JUVENILE OFFENDERS: WHAT PATHWAYS TO INTEGRATION?

The seminar, promoted by the Istituto degli Innocenti as part of the activities of the Regional Centre for Children and Adolescents and the European project Calypsos, is an opportunity to reflect on the training and integration of young people involved in criminal proceedings. The objective of the day is to deepen the theme of integration and education of juvenile offenders also through the experiences of partner countries of the Calypsos project.
The seminar will include interventions by representatives of the Juvenile Tribunal and of the Centres for Juvenile Justice in different Italian Regions about the organization of the Juvenile Justice system in Italy and the projects for the re-education of juvenile offenders. The theme of the training of juvenile offenders will be addressed also by the Regional School Office and by the Director of the Juvenile Tribunal of Florence. The representative of the association Meridianos, partner of the Calypsos project will introduce the subject of the educational projects dedicated to juvenile offenders in the Spanish system. The Seminar will also include a debate among professionals of the area, such as teachers and educators.
The day will be complemented by a theater performance entitled ”L’uomo che amava le isole” (“The man who loved islands”) realized by young people hosted in juvenile justice centres.
The seminar is aimed at juvenile justice practitioners (juvenile social services at the Ministry of Justice), community workers and educators, social workers, social services, teachers, volunteers from third sector associations, etc.
